The finale of a 4-game road set between the Oakland Athletics and the Houston Astros will take place at Minute Maid Field on Thursday afternoon at 2:10 pm EST. The Oakland A?s are currently in 3rd place within the AL West while the Astros continue to occupy the top spot in the division. In game 2 of this series, the Astros would tie the series with a 6-5 win on 7-10-2018. The Astros cashed in on the money line as heavy favorites (-233) while the over was the result with runs being set at 7.5 runs for the game. Justin Verlander got the no decision as he pitched 6 solid innings while allowing no runs on only 3 hits and 6 strikeouts with an ERA of 2.05. Sean Manaea was less than impressive going 4.2 innings while allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, 1 homer, and 7 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.44. Houston had 10 hits for the game Kyle Tucker, Alex Bregman, and George Springer each had 2 hits apiece with Bregman and Springer having 2 RBI?s each. Tony Kemp was 0-2 with an RBI in the victory. The Houston bullpen could not maintain Verlander?s intensity and allowed 10 hits to the A?s with Marcus Semien going 3-4 with 2 RBI?s while Matt Olson was 2-4 with an RBI. Khris Davis, Dustin Fowler, and Jed Lowry each went 1-5 with an RBI in the loss for Oakland. The loss halted a 3-game winning streak for the Athletics.
